THE FUTURE IS NOW…
I KNOW MY GEOGRAPHY… I OWN A GLOBE…
I designed the logo on the left for a swell company called OkayAfrica a while back as an icon for their social media sites. Recently they notified me that someone had written them saying the continent of Africa was not fully represented because Madagascar was missing. They then realized it was not and I made this image in response to the complainer.
DEER TICK: CINCO DE MAYO POSTERS
Whipped up these guys for Deer Tick’s show at the El Rey in Los Angeles on Cinco De Mayo. 3 Color on French Speckletone paper. The shimmer gold ink on it came through great and gives it a nice metallic glare as you move it around in the light. Printed by Karl LaRocca over at Kayrock Screenprinting in Greenpoint Brooklyn. This was a limited run of 100 just for the show.
AARON FREEMAN (aka GENE WEEN) POSTER
So last Tuesday the first solo record from Aaron Freeman (aka Gene Ween of the band WEEN) came out. I did all of the art and layout for it as well as shirts, totes, and these limited edition 18x24 hand screened posters. These are 3 color on 100lb Mohawk paper and were screened by my good friend Karl LaRocca at Kayrock Screenprinting in Greenpoint Brooklyn.
You can pick up the new record “Marvelous Clouds” from the lovely people at Partisan Records here!
FELA KUTI “LIVE IN DETROIT 1986”
This just came out last Tuesday and is a really phenomenal album! I’ve been working on Fela art for over 3 years now, reviving all of the album art for re-release. This however is the first “new” record I was able to work on. We manage to get a scan of the actual poster and ticket stub for this show and used it in the packaging. The inside of the digi-pack is an adjusted version of the actual TDK tap used to record this show (I just so happened to have one of these tapes with the jacket). Although this is a pretty simple package and layout it’s one of my favorites I’ve done to date.
You can pick up a copy of this amazing album here!
ps: Thanks for the great mention on DoneWaiting by good buddy Wes Flexner!
